SPANnet - Self Publishing Information

If you already have a blog, there is no need to use the one hosted on SPANnet, as it is easy to just import your blog's content to your SPAN profile with RSS.

To display your own blog posts you need to only capture the RSS feed, which can be found in your browsers menu bar after clicking on the RSS icon that usually looks similar to this:

(This icon can usually be easily found in the menu bar at the top of your browser. On SPANnet, the icon appears in a similar shape, but is blue.)

You can then plug the feed into the RSS reader that is located on your SPANnet profile page, where starts in the bottom left hand corner.

Clicking on the edit button allows you to adjust the Title of the RSS reader, as well as install the RSS feed, and modify the display settings. If you would like for the reader to display more like a normal blog we recommend "Detail View", if you would like for it to take up less space, than use "Titles Only".

We recommend you drag the RSS reader to the top of your page to make it more prominent, and just like with a SPANnet hosted blog, you can use participation in the online community as a way to draw traffic to your profile page.

This is helpful because, beyond gaining additional exposure for your name, books, brand, or ideas, when you have the RSS feed installed from your own site, every-time someone views your profile it counts as traffic on your site.
