A Changing of The Guard

After looking back on the year so far, I have found that working with Amazon is like, as some other articles put it, "sleeping with a shark"; which so far is actually paying disrespect to the shark. Vader could and did alter the contract with Lando Calrissian before even informing him of the change (sound familiar? it should). When Lando complained, Vader rejoined, "pray I do not alter it…See More

I have tried Lulu and found it lacking for many reasons. Now I use CreateSpace, which can assign an ISBN for you for free and also offers distribution for less than if you went with Lulu. I use Smashwords to distribute ebooks to stores I…

I agree with Erica. If you are going to segregate authors and publishers by what service they use or don't use, then your program will be irrelevent. The best practices should only apply to quality of writing, editing, layout, design, marketing…

Unfortunately there are too many people who choose to price ALL their ebooks at 99 cents because they think they can be the next Amanda Hocking. What they forget is that Ms Hocking promoted for years before her first book took off, and only as long…

Theresa M. Moore replied to michael n. marcus's discussion 'E-books can cannibalize the sales of p-books, but you can still make more money'
I agree that the p-book is rapidly becoming the more permanent version of the ebook, rather than the ebook becoming an adjunct to the p-book. Sales of all my p-books have tanked since the Kindle and Nook have taken over. But I still offer them to…

"I don't even care who wrote it. It will always be my favorite book. I still re-read it from time to time." --A reader in response to a blog article asking why Harper Lee never wrote another book.

Of course, we don't really know why she didn't but most responders were of the consensus that she did not write another because she did not have to. The royalties from sales of "To Kill a Mockingbird" were sufficient to put her in the lap of luxury…
