Jennifer,  Michele's advice is right on target.  I might be able to help.  My wife and I have done over 100 books (mostly small quantities) using Blurb, Lightning Source and eBooks as well.  We charge by the hour so the more…

A project from Iraq.

Ideas for books are limited only by our imaginations. Jan and I get requests for books on some of the most interesting topics. One of the most unusual and enjoyable to work on came to us from overseas last year..We received an email in May 2009 from an active duty Army Officer serving a 1-year tour of duty in Iraq. "Pete" (as we will call him) had been married the previous September and had been deployed less than a month later. Being separated from one another so soon after the ceremony would…See More

Not about a book but about probabilities

Sometimes things happen that are hard to explain. Lightning strikes someone and we say "wow, how likely was that?" When it strikes us we might react with more emotion - if, of course, we survive. This blog isn't strictly about getting published - but then again, in a way, it is. I am a photographer and I have been a contributor (they call me an exclusive photographer) to one of the largest stock-photography web sites around. I have been doing this for about four years with a small but very…See More

Interesting to see the information about this group. I am currently working on two corporate history books and have blogged today describing a 366 page book my wife and I completed last year for an Army Officer on a one-year deployment to Iraq.

Working on two corporate history books. These present interesting challenges. One is a 35 year history and the other 20 years.

Okay so I've written my book . . now what?

My wife and I help people design and publish their own books. More often than not it's their first, and the element of fear is pretty evident. They worry about the smallest details; font and type size, whether to have a table of contents, whether to have page headings, should they include photographs, what book size is best, what about copyright, etc. - the list goes on.The best advice we can give them, especially if it is their first book, is MAKE IT YOUR BOOK. It's for you alone so don't be…See More

Donna & Joe, It was great to meet you both a CIPA College 2010. Thank you for joining our community. I can see you already understand its potential. I’ll be in touch Monday to overview the “subtleties” of our promotion policy. It’s no big deal, and I look forward to talking to you! Highest Regards, Brad Poulson, SPAN Communications Director
