SPANpro member, Lynda Deniger, posted the following inquiry on the Selling to Schools Group Wall:
Lynda Deniger: "Hey, what do you do over the summer when schools are out? No one is interested in booking schools now, since school is almost out and aren't ready to talk about booking for next year? Any suggestions about how to sell a few books over the summer? Anxious in New Orleans ..."
Lynda,
I know that personal presentations are an important promotional component in your marketing plan. Your fun, interactive presentation highlights the educational information in your exciting and attractive book series for children. This type of personal selling can provide excellent word of mouth promotion and creates terrific networking (permission marketing) opportunities – don’t forget to circulate a signup sheet asking for email contact information (and plan to use it later!). While I’m sure you’ve thought about many of the following, here is my brain storm (Don’t rule out adult organizations!).
Day Cares
Summer Camps
Church Camps
Libraries
State and National Parks – Programming and bookstores (Perfect for Salty!)
County Fairs
Street Fairs (Many have programming, but have you thought about a booth?)
Museums & Cultural Attractions – Programming and bookstores
Business networking groups – always looking for speakers
Business Community Service Organizations – always looking for speakers
Senior Centers
Retirement Communities – ask for the activities coordinator (this could be perfect for you!)
Community Centers
Boys & Girls Clubs
Environmental organizations
Environmental Centers
Campgrounds – Big RV parks do programming for children/adults/family
Educational supply stores
Humbly submitted and I hope it helps!
Thanks, Lynda, for your involvement in our online community and your unfailing support of SPAN!
Highest Regards,
Brad Poulson
