SPANnet - Self Publishing Information

Does anyone have a good specific place to look for someone who can sell foreign rights? I have 250+ books in print, mostly biographies, and would like to find someone who can work on a % basis for me. Thanks.

Ben,

We have an article in the Free Articles section of SPANpro at http://www.spanpro.org/foreign-rights-katz.

To research foreign rights agents Mr. Katz writes:

• Consult the list of foreign rights agents in International Literary Market Place, available in the reference section of many libraries.

• Google “foreign rights agents” and “foreign rights.” Results will include publishers’ Web pages with names and contact information for their foreign rights agents.

• To find agents who specialize in a certain genre, such as children’s books, go to Web sites of publishers of that genre and look at their list of foreign rights agents.

His final bit of advice is possibly the most important. He says, "It’s also important to protect yourself by having an attorney review your contract before you sign."
