Help - I am in the distribution dilemma phase. I am trying to find a reputable distributor who can get my book out to all the major wholesalers etc. etc. etc.
I have one book - this is the first time for me doing this. The book is called Entrepreneur YOU - you can see it on my website www.uconnectsite.com.
Great book (I might be a little partial).
I tried ipgbook.com - got turned down - not sure why, but it was quick - within 10 minutes - so I think my lack of experience has shown through here.
I also have emails into:
Publishers Group West
National Book Network
Consortium - said I'm too small
Midpointtrade
Bookmasters is willing to do something - which is a start. I am sooo tempted to just go with Bookmasters. Looks like 18% for distribution. But does anyone know does that include going out to Ingram, Book & Taylor etc. etc.? or is that an additional marketing packet which is around $4,000???
Help spending days on this thing and still stuck! Appreciate any insight!

Holly,
I decided to use Book Clearing House Distributors in New York. Their website is http://www.bookch.com/ .
I don't recall the percentage they keep off the top of my head - but it was reasonable. I pay a $50 fee per year to keep my account active. I actually ship my books to them. They feed them into the Ingram/Spring Arbor system for Christian bookstores and all major retailers.
In other words, my book can be ordered at any brick & mortar store. Like most distributors - they do nothing for promotion other than a once in a while "group" advertising opportunity in a catalog or coop block ad.
Just something to think about. Blessings,

Yes, the Bookmasters agreement does include Ingram, B&T, B&N, Books-a-million, and many wholesalers and retailers. It also includes libraries, independents, and online retailers. The marketing packets are different, but are still really beneficial, and I recommend them.
I actually do some work for Bookmasters and have worked there full-time as well, so if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help answer. Best wishes on your project!

You can email me and I can tell you what I did, and how I feel about it. We are with a distributor since October. Bookmasters takes everybody, and others, like IPG and Greenleaf, are selective.
Our company is www.Storybuildersbooks.com
And I started the same way you did.
