My favorite children's book:

Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Five?! You sure you don't mean 50? I want to obey the rules, but I may go a little over. Here goes a very ecelectic selection of children's literature and illustrated storybooks: Just David (Porter, of Pollyanna); Holes (Sachar); James Herriott's Treasury for Children (Herriott); Tales of Winnie the Pooh (Milne); the Chronicles of Narnia (Lewis); The Relatives Came (Rylant); Simeon's Gift (Andrews-Edwards). OK, I'll stop (and I already deleted five others).
Interesting . . . I haven't given this much thought for quite a few years! I'd have to go with the old favorite Beatrice Potter books!
Has anyone in this group written a children's book? Shouldn't that be your favorite? Or is it too brash to toot your own horn here. I'm really not sure if it's tooting or advertising. Any comments? Anyway, other than my own, Uncle Wiggly series, by is still my favorite.
Hi,
I liked the George & Martha series, as well as Ameila Bedelia stories. I love stories that make you laugh, but you learn things along the way as well.
Deanie Humphrys-Dunne
My favorite has and always will be the inspirational book, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. As I was adopted, this book has always touched my heart to show that a real mother does not have to be biological - a real mother is one who gives everything of herself and asks nothing in return. Shel Silverstein looked into my heart as a child and helped me understand that.
I"m glad to hear you had such caring adoptive parents, as well as a good book to help you understand adoption.  No doubt it's a difficult issue for children to grasp.
The Nutshell Library - 4 books by Maurice Sendak, including my favorite "Chicken Soup with Rice"

Bambi- Felix Salten

A Wrinkle in Time - Madeline D'Engle

The Snow Filly & The Silver Brumby - Elyne Mitchell
